About

Management Team

Dan Romescu and Willi Schroll have been in fruitful dialogue for some years about the future trends and innvoations in mobile communication, web 2.0, social network dynamics and business model innovation.

They both identify Augmented Reality technologies as a very decisive part of the disruptive changes we will witness in this decade. Nonetheless the making of the "1st European AR Business Conference" was not the result of a planning process, but it was emerging somewhere in the matrix of grounded insights and dynamic enthusiasm.

The making of ARBcon.europe

First there was the idea to have a developer camp in Berlin, an ARDevCamp in barcamp style, as they have happened in other countries around the world. Then we realized the deep business impact especially of Mobile AR. We decided to have another day for the business perspective. Finally, with a lot of measurable interest around us, week by week we drifted in a totally new setting, and the project morphed into the European AR Business Conference.

We are glad to bring to you the full package of Augmented Reality – the business conference ARBcon.europe and the ARDevCamp Berlin 2010 to dive deep into the hands-on coding of AR.

The management team of Dan Romescu and Willi Schroll is supported by the helpful hands of Excess Hospitality. For media relations we are being supported by Tonka Performance PR.

Kwela Sabine Hermanns

April 23, 2010 - surprise and highlight
We are proud to present Kwela as our surprise for all of you. She is part of the backstory of ARBcon.europe, since she made the first AR event possible in Netherlands at V2, Rotterdam - see bio below. It will be great to have her on our side during the event, since she is not only professional in moderating an event, she is really deep in the issue of AR or let's say: Augmenting Live.

  • Mobile social architect with a clear vision for an open, innovative, green, transparent = sustainable society, with strong interest for Socionetics (Social Network Physics), Augmented Reality, AI and Neurophysics.
  • Guided by a belief that the information can be reached "wherever you are, with a minimum effort and maximum relevance", Dan started to work on mobile software development for 15 years, on the first mobile device – the Newton from Apple.
  • Dan was Director of Cellixx S.A. and explained: "I started developing mobile applications, and have succeeded by creating solutions to enhance peoples' mobility & connectivity". In 2000 at Microsoft Partner Congress, CTO of V2R, Dan helped launch first Data GPRS Apps worldwide —with Compaq, T-Mobile and Microsoft. • Focus in trend research and analysis is emerging technologies, especially ICT, mobile internet, social web, internet of things.
  • Edu: Information Science, Philosophy (MA, FU Berlin)
  • Fascination of Augmented Reality: First time I got the idea of the huge potential of Augmented Reality and the impact for economy and society was in context of a Government 2.0 Camp in 2009. The term of the "Augmented Citizen" was coined with the session of this title.
  • In December 2009 I was host at the V2_ AR Ecosystem meeting in Rotterdam (NL). I held a presentation there on the "Augmented Citizen", as a broad concept, which should reflect the issue of responsible design of AR layers and Augmented Worlds. Reason: AR has such a high impact for our perceptive and cognitive skills in the future, since it will be part of knowledge and world construction. Remind Francis Bacon's aphorism in his Meditations: "Knowledge is Power."
  • Quote: Augmented Reality will have a high impact on economy and lifestyle. Combined with other trends like the "Internet of Things" this means that our "physical reality is becoming a web", an ubiquitous interface to interact with. Finally our mental and sensory relations to places, persons and objects will be embodied in causal processes. This is a radical transformation.
